General Description

The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management -General qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a specialist in general construction contracting operations management within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

Details of Assessment

The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:

  • Maintain health, safety and welfare system in construction contracting operations management

  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

  • Chair meetings and take decisions in construction contracting operations management

  • Develop and maintain working relationships and personal development in construction contracting operations management


The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in three of the following optional units:

  • Plan measured surveys in construction contracting operations management

  • Establish the condition of property in construction contracting operations management

  • Develop and agree detailed project designs in construction contracting operations management

  • Specify and control production documents in construction contracting operations management

  • Identify, assess and evaluate project requirements in construction contracting operations management

  • Prepare procurement schedules and programmes of works in construction contracting operations management

  • Implement strategic and integrated supply chain management and sourcing partnerships in construction contracting operations management

  • Obtain tenders and appoint successful contractors in construction contracting operations management

  • Evaluate enquiries and submit tenders in construction contracting operations management

  • Evaluate work methods and programme in construction contracting operations management

  • Analyse, monitor and optimise materials, plant and services in construction contracting operations management

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to take this qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

Progression

On completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated competence to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or enable entry into supervisory and management positions within the workplace.

Industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

Assessment & Grading

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

You will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by your assessor.

This qualification is not graded.

Recognising Prior Learning is an assessment process that recognises learning that has its origins in a learner’s experience and/or previous formal and informal learning contexts. This includes knowledge and skills gained within school, college, university and outside formal learning situations such as through life, employment, apprenticeships and other work experiences.
